The foveola-type mucosa (left) was defined as round, regular crypt-opening (CO) and marginal crypt epithelium (MCE) surrounded by a network of brownish subepithelial capillaries (SEC). The groove-type mucosa (right) was defined as brownish SECs surrounded by ridged MCE.
